About Me

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog! I’m Courtney, and that picture above is of me. Just in case you didn’t figure that out.  🙂

I’m a typical high school senior trying to balance school, exercise, and life!

I love to run, swim, and do the occasional crazy yoga pose.  I don’t have the patience to take an entire class, haha.  I used to do ballet, and I still love to dance.  I also have a condition called POTS, which makes exercising difficult and requires me to eat extra salt and drink extra water.  I put salt on everything- even pasta and salads, and I drink upwards of a gallon of water per day.  When I’m up for working out, you can bet I do it!

Fun Facts:

  • I’m allergic to penicillin and mosquito bites
  • Two of my toes are stuck together… NO this doesn’t make me a good swimmer!
  • I secretly love passing men during races… who says girls can’t run?!
  • I PRed in a 5k because of the ^above^ fact.  There was this one guy who just *had* to be passed, if you know what I mean.
  • I love brownie batter, super dark chocolate and Reese’s PB cups
  • I hate tomatoes
  • I’m really good at Tetris
  • I’m on a quest to find the perfect mascara under $10, because thats the maximum I will spend on pretty much anything
  • I don’t like to wear jeans… most of the time I’m in dresses, stretchy pants, or shorts
  • Titanic makes me cry every time I watch it even though I know the ending
  • I love the thrill when you find an amazing thing on sale 🙂

So random, but two of my toes are stuck together too! Apparently it’s genetic…check your parents. 😛

Ahaha at least I’m not the only one 🙂 both my parents have regular toes, but I look nothing like them anyway so I guess it skips a generation! 😀 Thanks for commenting!

Hey girl! I love your blog. I’m a year older, but we’re ridiculously similar. I’ve been healthy and active my whole life, and have run track and cross country. Last spring I even ran a marathon (and took first in my age group!) I’m studying to become an RD, so I figured I was in great health. But I totally thought wrong.
In June I noticed I was feeling super fatigued on all my runs, but my breathing wasn’t labored at all. After cutting down my milage, getting more rest, and making sure my eating was “clean”, nothing changed. Finally, I started wearing my heart rate strap with my Garmin, and I discovered that my average heart rate was around 197 when I ran. No matter the distance or the pace.
Fast forward to millions of tests/ekgs/chest x-rays/multiple doctors, I was diagnosed with organic tachycardia of unknown origin. I had to drop out of training for the Nike Women’s marathon, and I can’t remember the last “good run” I had.

I’d love to talk to you more about how you deal with your heart problems mentally/physically. Email me!

Wow, we are ridiculously similar!! Creeeeeeepy… my heart rate hit near-200 bpm when I ran, too. Thank you so much for reading, and I have a feeling we will have a lot to talk about 🙂 Unfortunately wordpress doesn’t show me your email address, so you email me first [ runningfromtheheart@gmail.com ] and I will respond. =D

Oh Titanic makes me emotional too!
I loved reading your about me 🙂
    Mascaras I love:

(if it doesn’t show up)- L’oreal Clean Definition Telescopic. Thick and dark without getting chunky. It is my absolute favorite. On the website it is just over $10 (oh no!) but at the store I got it at it was under $10.

My second favorite (I’m really picky) would have to be Covergirl’s Lash Blast Length mascara. It goes on smooth and shows up lighter than the Telescopic mascara. But it is buildable. The brush is really lightweight too. I think it was about $7.

For me, the Covergirl is good for every day wear and looks more natural. The other is better for nights out or special occasions! xo

Wow, thank you so much for the tips! 🙂 I will have to try both of those 😀
